Soothing that burning desire to stay tan
As the summer days begin to fade, so too do the season’s suntans. With regular visits to a tanning salon, diehard sunbathers can maintain their bronzed looks for a few dollars a session. Unfortunately the true price they pay for a sunless tan could come years later if their damaged skin develops a cancer as a result of excessive sun exposure.

“What we do to our skin stays with us throughout our lifetime,” says Mary Vecchio, R.N., M.S.N., A.P.N., O.C.N., and Cancer Outreach nurse practitioner for the Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center. “The bad, blistering sunburns you may have suffered in your youth can evolve into skin cancer.”
