Daryl Wine Bar and Restaurant, located in the Heldrich Hotel in New Brunswick, opened last fall with New Jersey-based Executive Chef David Drake of Restaurant David Drake in Rahway at the helm. Setting this restaurant apart from others in the New Jersey area, Daryl features an Enomatic system; a compact machine that allows guests to taste more than 60 different wines by the glass as if the bottles had just been opened. The Enomatic encourages guests to sample a variety of different wines along with an assortment of small plates from Drake’s menu that are meant to be shared, allowing a unique and wide-range culinary experience. In addition to the huge selection of wines by the glass, the restaurant and attached wine shop boast more than 550 bottles of wine, which can be enjoyed in the restaurant or purchased at retail to take home. In Daryl’s short existence, the establishment has been honored to receive three stars from The New York Times, three stars from New Jersey Monthly, and three and a half stars from The Star-Ledger. In addition, Daryl’s has received acknowledgement from industry peers nationwide with a James Beard nomination for Best New Restaurant 2008.
