2010 Equestrian Calendar
Head out this fall and enjoy the best of New Jersey’s equestrian events:

This year will mark the 90th year of New Jersey’s most prestigious and historic racing event, the 2010 Far Hills Race Meeting. Held on Saturday, October 23, New Jersey’s largest social gathering of the fall season will attract 50,000 spectators to Moorland Farms.

This year, the Far Hills Race Meeting Association will pay homage to the values and traditions that have made the races an enduring event in the lives of so many local families. Attendees will have the option to purchase tickets to the first ever Chairman’s Tent, an all-inclusive option for those seeking an alternative to the traditional tailgate. Located at the top of the hill, the Far Hills Chairman’s Tent will provide access to food and beverages throughout the day and have reserved seating with a panoramic view of the race course. A live broadcast of the race will be displayed on closed-circuit TV.

Throughout the years, the Far Hills Race Meeting has raised more than $17 million to benefit Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. For more information, contact the Far Hills Race Meeting Association at (908) 685-2929 or visit the association’s Web site at farhillsrace.org.

The United States Equestrian Team (USET) Foundation, headquartered on Hamilton Farm in Gladstone, hosts and promotes several equestrian events throughout the year. This fall, the Annual East Coast Show Jumping Talent Search Final will be held October 9 through 11 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Established as a not-for-profit organization, the USET Foundation helps fund the competition, training, coaching, travel and educational needs of equestrian athletes and horses in partnership with the United States Equestrian Federation. Events will be held at the USET Foundation Dressage Arena. For more information, call (908) 234-1251 or visit www.uset.com.

The 147-acre Horse Park of New Jersey, located at Stone Tavern in Allentown, Monmouth County, is the result of both a public and private partnership. The land was purchased by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection with Green Acres funds. The New Jersey Department of Agriculture continues to assist in the development of the park into a world-class equine exhibition facility. From March through November, equine events are scheduled for most weekends and many weekdays, including frequent multi-day events.
